Introducing our new Seniors for Seniors program!
S.T.A.A.R. recognizes the value that pets play in the lives of our older generation. Their companionship, love and loyalty can improve quality of life and help ensure safety for many. We also see the value that the older generation of S.T.A.A.R. dogs can play in this valuable realtionship.
In light of that we would like to introduce our new Seniors for Seniors program Anyone over 65 who adopts a S.T.A.A.R. dog over 6 years old, will receive the following adoption package:
- 50% off the adoption fee
- free microchip implant and registration
- if you are even unable to care for the dog they will be returned to S.T.A.A.R.
We hope that this program will encourage people to consider the value of an older dog in their lives and we can find some special homes for some special dogs.

This is a wonderful idea. I am 69 and would like a dog but I worry about my age and if later on something should happen. It is not hard to find an older dog because people want puppies and “cute” dogs.
My apt allows dogs up to 25 lbs and they must have a vets exam and all documents. Also the costs of adopting from other rescue shelters is costly for someone who is only on ss. Thank you
