Every so often there comes a special dog, one that is very adoptable but decides that they have found their forever home the moment they arrive at S.T.A.A.R.   Layla was one of those dogs and for that reason held the rank of senior most pup. Anyone who has ever visited the Ranch in the past decade or so knows about Layla and her sweet and loving ways. She was brought to us as a baby when her mom was found, emaciated in a field, unable to stand but willing to nurse her nine fat pups. They all arrived at S.T.A.A.R. many years back, and mom and her nine pups all found loving homes. Layla made it to her new home and within a few months managed to loose all of her hair. After multiple visits to her vet, it was decided that there was no reason and no cure and that she would just be that way forever. As with all S.T.A.A.R. adoptions, the owners know that that can they can bring any dog back to us, no questions asked. So Layla returned and seemed happy to be HOME. Within six weeks she had all of her hair back and we determined the reason for her hair loss was clearly homesickness

Layla blessed the Ranch with her boundless personality while vigilantly watching over each and every S.T.A.A.R. dog day in and day out. Layla you were the most wonderful of companions in the finest sense of the word, and your passing marks an era here at S.T.A.A.R. Although we are heartbroken that Layla’s time on earth is done, we are most certain she is still watching over S.T.A.A.R. in her own special way.
