Brownie
Latest Updates - After raising money for Brownie's emergency operation, we took her to the Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. After examining Brownie, the specialist determined that she had undergone a rather miraculous healing process of her own, and suggested that we not operate. We used some of the money collected to pay for the consultation, with the remaining funds we have established a separate and special fund for animals who come in with special emergency care needs, we are calling it the Brownie Fund! This fund will not be used for standard operating costs (although we still need donations for that!), the funds will be kept in an account to only be used for special emergency cases such as Brownie's. Brownie was found cowering against a concrete barrier on one of the dangerously busy onramps on I-10. HPD had stopped traffic to help her but she was too frightened to come to him. Luckily, some STAAR volunteers were driving past and were able to patiently talk her into their car. She is a very sweet young dog with a gentle disposition who doesn't even complain about a badly broken leg that is not healing correctly. We are working with Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists to get her the orthopedic plate and surgery she requires. She is in the care of loving people at STAAR, but we need help covering the costs for ensuring Brownies health and well being, so that we can get her into a loving forever home.
